Jaffna University Graduates Association (JUGA) is a not-for-profit organization, formed in 2012. A few hundred graduates from Jaffna University are living in Australia. A group of them got together in Sydney in 2010 and developed the concept of forming an association, which was later inaugurated into the JUGA. Among other things, the purposes of the association include enabling networking among Jaffna University graduates living in Australia through social and cultural events and, where possible and appropriate, assisting students enrolled at the University of Jaffna with their educational needs.

JUGA was registered as a business organization in November 2012 and incorporated as an association.

JUGA is governed by the Constitution of the Jaffna University Graduates Association. The Constitution stipulates the objectives of the Association, eligibility to and the types of memberships, fee structure, the make-up and the power of the management committee; the Annual General Meeting and other formalities.

JUGA currently holds events primarily in Sydney, although it aims to spread its activities into other parts of Australia, particularly in other Australian capital cities. As an initial step in reaching Jaffna University graduates living in other capital cities, JUGA held its first meeting in Canberra recently. The meeting was well attended by Jaffna University graduates living in Canberra and resulted in the formation of a small team to organize events locally while nominating a local delegate to the JUGA Management Committee.

Similar gatherings are planned for Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide in the foreseeable future and extending it to Perth and New Zealand in the medium to longer term
